As the New year just kicked off couple of days ago, I am bringing you second part of my 15 young riders to watch in 2023 continental teams. In case you missed it, I recommend checking out initial article before continuing reading this one.
10. Aivaras Mikutis
Lithuanian time-trial champion will ride for Tudor development team in upcoming season. Despite I have opted not to include riders in dev squads of WT formations, I think those connected to pro conti teams only are still bit undiscovered. His results so far suggested he might be well-rounded rouleur in his future career. It will be definitely exciting to see if he can match his compatriots like Navardauskas and Siskevicius, who shared similar racing qualities. 15th place from U23 ITT world championships adds up to his palmares.
9. Tomáš Kopecký
Oldest from promising Kopecký family trio. He already proved his qualities against great competition, when he ended 8th in general classification of
ZLM Tour. His experiences with Benelux races both on road and in cyclocross should serve him well in upcoming season with
TdT-Unibet. Place in interesting new team will hopefully provide him calendar of best possible quality. He should enjoy any kind of hard race, given his great performances on all kind of terrain.
8. Štěpán Telecký
Compatriot of Kopecký, however they've missed each other in national team due to age gap. Coming freshly from juniors, Telecký will hope to carry on Elkov-Kaspers legacy of great results around Europe. Biggest chance for doing so should be in time-trials. He mentioned earlier, that he wants to finish high school before potentially moving abroad, so beware that in case you are WT team scout reading this ;).
7. Noa Isidore
Possibly one of best known juvenile racers in France. Strong puncher is another one from the list, who will wear jersey of promising Team U Nantes-Atlantique project. Lot of races on homeland soil should mean he will be greatly monitored by World Tour formations. Considering his history in AG2R juniors, there might be some links already.
6. Roman Ermakov
It is surely not easy to get contract as young rider with Russian nationality, but Ermakov spent last season in Belgian Cannibal team already. He showed potential specially in stage races, combining great time-trial capability with solid performances uphill. Cycling Team Friulli is known for believing into teenage cyclists, so we should see him a lot in 2023.
Thank you for reading another part of my off-season list. If I've missed some of yours favourites, I hope you won't be let down next time, when I'll be bringing top 5 part of my Young riders to watch in 2023 continental teams series.
